As Managing Broker and Principal, Donald oversees the overall activities, facilitates projects, and develops new business for the firm.
After college (B.S., Political Science - Francis Marion University), Donald entered the political and public policy fields in Washington, DC and Raleigh, NC. After positions with various lobbying concerns, US Senator Jesse Helms, US Senator John East and Gov. James Martin, he began his real estate career in 1986. After returning home to South Carolina, he launched Evans, Rivers & Co. to place investors in select real estate projects while managing a sales office in Myrtle Beach, SC. During his career, Donald has consummated transactions in excess of $1B USD in land and investment assets throughout the southeast. He has been involved in the development of over 12,300 multifamily units in the Carolinas and Georgia.
Licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina, Donald’s professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute. He has presented market update reports to annual conferences, and authored several papers, including American Livability Issues: what we can learn from the EU.
Active in the community, Donald has served on various boards, including Goodwill Industries, Charleston Ballet Theatre, Charleston Kiwanis Club, St. Philip's Church (Episcopal), Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County, The Archives of the Episcopal Church, and The Canterbury House. He's an active member of the Carolina Yacht Club, and several other social organizations.
